When to Use the Lob Shot in Pickleball

Description:

There are two great options you can choose during a dink rally when you can take a ball out of the air. A lob is available any time a ball is out of the air and so is an attack straight ahead at your opponent.

You should never take an airborne ball out of the air and attack it cross-court where the ball came from. You always want to surprise the person in front of you. It’s one thing to take the ball out of the air and attack it, but the best thing to do is attack it in the right spot, which is the person directly in front of you, not the cross-court player. Attacking the person in front of you shortens their reaction time and you’re more likely to win the point.
