Scenarios When You Should Hit a Dink Shot in Pickleball

A dink tactically takes place once you have arrived at the kitchen. When you’re up at the kitchen, you want to make sure you can dink it in your opponent’s kitchen so they cannot attack you. If you’re unsuccessful at dinking the ball into their kitchen and they can take it out of the air before it’s bounced, that gives them the upper hand.

Many people believe that dinking the ball in the kitchen is good enough, but most of the time that means your ball just goes over the net and lands in the kitchen right in front of your opponent and you’ve accomplished nothing. There’s more to winning a dink rally than simply hitting the ball in the kitchen. The most important part of dinking tactics is to use the entire kitchen to hit different spots instead of repeatedly hitting the same spot. The left corner, middle of the court, and the right corner are the three spots you should specifically try for.
