It’s been a jam-packed four days at the Pro Pickleball Association Masters tournament in La Quinta, CA. And it all culminated in Sunday’s championships, which saw some of pickleball’s biggest players take home a cup.
Ben Johns was the tournament’s big winner: Along with Matt Wright he captured the Men’s Doubles title, then won the Singles championship too! The world’s highest-ranked player did not disappoint.
Another big win went to Anna Leigh Waters, who defeated Lea Jansen to earn her Singles championship. We want to know how the 14-year-old pickleball phenom celebrated! We’re guessing it included her mom/pickleball partner Leigh Waters (pick up a copy of Issue 2 for our interview with the dynamic duo!).
Catherine Parenteau and Jessie Irvine (read our recent interview with Irvine here) won the Women’s Doubles title while Matt Wright and Lucy Kovalova went home with the Mixed Doubles cup. All in all, an exciting weekend in the desert for players, attendees, and fans alike.
