5 Pickleball Destinations to Add to Your Travel Plans

Summer is just around the corner. Have you planned your vacation yet? 

Heading out of town for a little rest and relaxation doesn’t have to mean abandoning your pickleball routine. After all, pickleball provides an escape from daily life for many of us. It only makes sense that a perfect vacation includes plenty of time on the court. 

Of course, some destinations are more pickleball-friendly than others. As the sport explodes in popularity, some incredible travel destinations have embraced pickleball and everything it has to offer. 

The options can be overwhelming. This list can help. We’ve narrowed down the list of pickleball destinations to a few of our favorites. 

Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas might as well be pickleball heaven. The city has a thriving pickleball community and offers plenty of places for a mix of healthy competition and fun. 

In addition to the public courts, breweries and restaurants also feature pickleball courts in Austin. 

Bouldin Acres has courts available for rent, as well as an on-site BBQ restaurant and full drink menu. Other Racquet Social Club is open daily for pickleball but also has on-site food trucks from Thursday-Sunday.

 That’s just the beginning. Austin Pickle Ranch and Luxury Pickleball Club are other popular local options. If you’re willing to drive, Dreamland is just under 40 minutes from downtown and an ideal day trip for the entire family. It’s true to its name, with 16 pickleball courts, two mini golf courses, a bar, a splash pad, and a stage. 

Naples, Florida

Naples considers itself The Pickleball Capital of the World – and they might be right! The Naples Pickleball Center has 64 courts and is home to the Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships. 

After an intense pickleball match or two, you’ll want to hit the beach or the area’s historic downtown to shop, snack, and schmooze. This gorgeous slice of Southwest Florida has miles of beaches, as well as a luxurious downtown area that features top-notch Italian restaurants and high-end shopping. After your visit, you’ll understand why the area is considered Florida’s Paradise Coast. 

New York City, New York

It’s easy to fill a trip to New York with sightseeing and exploring. On your next visit, see the city from a new perspective by squeezing in a pickleball match alongside New York’s vibrant residents. 

CityPickle was New York City’s first indoor pickleball club, but it certainly wasn’t the last! The Long Island City location offers court rentals and open play. You’ll want to check the website before finalizing your itinerary for the trip. CityPickle also offers several pickleball activations in unique locations across the city, depending on the time of year. Past activations include Hudson Yards, and TWA Hotel. Starting May 1 CityPickle, is teaming up again with Wollman Park Partners to bring the nation’s fastest-growing sport back to Central Park’s iconic Wollman Rink and it will remain open through the Summer months until Fall.

The Hamptons in New York

Want to avoid the city? Sneak away to the Hamptons for the ultimate luxury vacation. The Southampton Youth Services facility has five courts for weekday play, while Sporttime Amagansett has three pickleball courts, along with a full social calendar. 

Sag Harbor Tennis & Pickleball offers plenty of options for lessons. After you’re finished playing pickleball, explore the local shops or grab a drink downtown, or enjoy the beach.

Las Vegas, Nevada

What happens In Vegas, stays in Vegas – including a few pickleball victories! If you run out of luck at the casinos, cut your losses and head to one of the area’s incredible pickleball venues. 

When you search for Las Vegas hotels, try the Plaza first. The Pool at the Plaza has 12 pickleball courts and a championship court. In between matches, you can relax at the rooftop pool, grab a drink at the bar, or try the food truck. 

If you want to jump into open play with local pickleball players, head to Sunset Park, which has 20 lighted courts. If the desert sun gets a little too warm, head to Vegas Indoor Pickleball to escape the heat.
