This video reviews the circle of life drill to make sure you understand that in a game-like situation, the ball that is returned back goes back cross court in order to continue with the rally.
By not going to the center, your opponent can’t poach that. If you are uncomfortable and being pushed wide, the circle of life allows you to elongate the rally. It is also important to give the ball underspin, not topspin, so the ball stays in the court instead of kicking out wide. This way your opponent can’t go around the pole for an ATP point.
